The Business Case for Mobility Services

Enroll

This class explores the business case for adopting and integrating Mobility Services into a Solution Provider's deliverables.

Gartner, one of the leading information technology research and advisory companies, states in their User Survey Analysis: Impact of Mobile Devices on Network and Data Center Infrastructure in May 2012 that healthy growth in smartphone and media tablet shipments over the next five years will enable a much higher level of IT consumerization than is currently possible.

According to Gartner, Enterprises should recognize this and look to ‘mobile enable’ their IT infrastructure for employees to meet the growing demand for mobile device use in the enterprise IT environment.”

The migration from traditional computing devices such as personal computers and laptops connecting to, accessing and interacting with enterprise networks and data to mobile devices has been accelerated by advances in these devices’ computing power, network performance, application software and the evolution of Cloud Computing.

The enablement of ubiquitous computing in this manner has fostered and accelerated the adoption of bring your own device, or (BYOD) programs in the workplace.

In 2012 based on their research, polling and surveys, Gartner made the following statement regarding BYOD:

“The rise of ‘bring your own device’ programs is the single most radical shift in the economics of client computing for business since PCs invaded the workplace”.

Gartner goes on to state that BYOD impacts corporate risk, infrastructure and software costs, customer service levels, and total cost of ownership.

The business case for Mobility Services includes their positioning and relatively short timeline to mainstream adoption according to Gartner’s Hype Cycle, and the value these services provide to customers.

Additional benefits to providers include the ease of sale, implementation and ongoing maintenance for these services, resulting in their positive impact to your top and bottom-line revenues.
